Updating Directories Pro

There are two ways to update Directories Pro to the latest version. One is the Automatic Update method via the Plugins page in the WordPress administration dashboard. The other is the Manual Update method using FTP software. With either method, it is strongly recommended that you take a full backup of both the files and the database of your WordPress website before updating.

⚠️ Attention!

If you are updating from v1.14 to v2.0, scroll down to Updating from v1.14 to v2.0.

Automatic Update

  1. Update files

You can update Directories Pro from the Plugins page in the WordPress administration dashboard just like other plugins distributed from wordpress.org. Make sure that you have a valid license key configured in the settings to be able to update. See Installation - Register your License Key (Purchase Code) for more details on registering your license key.

  2. Update components

After updating all Directories Pro plugins, go to Directories -> System in the admin dashboard. Under the Tools sub-tab, click the Reload components button and follow the instructions shown in the popup window to update all components.

Manual Update

  1. Delete old files

Using your preferred FTP software, log in to the FTP server of your WordPress site and delete the directories-pro folder from wp-content/plugins. It is important to delete this folder first so that old files do not cause any issues with the new ones.

  2. Upload files

Download the latest version of the plugin by following the instructions in Installation - Download package, then unzip the directories-pro.zip file included in the package. Using your FTP software, upload the unzipped folder (directories-pro) to the wp-content/plugins folder on your server.

  3. Update components

See the Update components step under Automatic Update above.

Updating from a specific version

Updating from v1.14 to v2.0

Updating from v1.14 to v2.0 is a major upgrade and requires additional attention and steps. Here are the steps:

  1. Update only the Directories Pro plugin to v2.0 by following step 1 under Automatic Update or steps 1 and 2 under Manual Update above.

This will automatically deactivate other Directories plugins (Directories, Directories - Frontend, Directories - Payments, Directories - Reviews, Directories - Faker) if you currently have any of them activated, as they have been integrated into the Directories Pro plugin. You can safely deactivate and delete these plugins.

  2. Run the Reload components tool from Directories -> System -> Tools.

  3. Run the Update database tables tool from Directories -> System -> Tools.

  4. Go to Directories -> Your directory -> Settings and click Save Changes.
